The 604 Society
This is a unique way of supporting the fundraising at Rochester Cathedral, and is being offered only to parishes within the Diocese of Rochester, the 604 Society celebrates the foundation of the Cathedral 1402 years ago.
It presents parishes with a simple yet recognisable method of support. To become a member of the Society, Parishes have been making donations of £604 over a 4 year period. This was often in an annual pledge of £151 a year but in some cases was a one-off gift. In short, whatever suited them best.
Membership of the 604 Society could be funded in a number of ways:
- A small annual gift for End of Year giving, committed each year.
- An annual retiring collection at a specific service each year.
- An Annual (or one-off) Gift Day for the Cathedral.
As an illustration of the collective power of individual parishes, if 200 parishes make a pledge of £151 per annum for 4 years, the overall value to the Cathedral fund raising would be £ 120,800, a significant contribution.
