Foundation / Key Stage 1 Resources
A variety of workshops and trail sheets are available for Foundation / Key Stage 1 classes. All visits can be tailor made to meet your requirements.

Workshops
Mini-tour - A 30-minute guided look around the cathedral followed by 30 minutes to explore in small groups. We will match the tour to the theme of your visit. It may be useful to download our "Art, Science and Maths" guidance sheet for all accompanying adults.
Stories in Glass (The Three Trees) - An hour-long session exploring the stories and messages in the stained glass windows of the Lady Chapel. Pupils will also be given the opportunity to design their own window. Teachers’ notes for this session can be downloaded and provide ideas for follow up work back in school.

Role-Play Baptism - A 45-minute session exploring baptism concluding with a short role-play baptism service.
Poor Man's Bible - A 45-minute guided exploration of some of the artwork in the cathedral. We decode the stories and messages in the stained glass windows, the green men, the fresco, the tiles and much more.
Special Activity Days
ExploRE Days - Spend a day at the cathedral engaging in a variety of activities with an RE focus. Select a trail plus two of the following: Stories in Glass, Rites of Passage (Baptism), Rites of Passage (Weddings), Poor Man's Bible or What we see in a cathedral (mini-tour). ExploRE Days are available from November to March and cost £4.50 per pupil.
SmART Days - a day of activities with an ART focus at the cathedral. Select a trail plus two of the following: Tile Printing, Brass Rubbing, Exploring shape and Pattern, Dance, Poetry Writing or Drama. SmART Days are available from November to March and cost £4.50 per pupil.
There is no charge for adults accompanying school visits (up to a reasonable ratio).

Self-Guided Trail Sheets
A member of the Education team will greet you and give a brief introduction to the cathedral before you begin to explore self guided using one of the following sheets.
Cathedral Explorer - A short trail exploring many interesting objects and areas in the cathedral. Please bring your own pencils. Answer sheet available to download.
Cathedral I-Spy - A photo trail. Search for the images shown. Pencils needed.
Art, Science and Maths - A guidance sheet aimed at teachers and helpers. This sheet helps you to explore and discuss the building with small groups of children.
Prices
General visit (1 hour in the cathedral using a trail sheet or participating in a workshop only) - £2 per pupil (no charge for accompanying adults)
Additional activity - £1.40 pp
Lunchroom* - £15 per half hour (each lunchroom can accommodate one class of students plus helpers). Once a lunchroom is booked it must be paid for even if not used.
* Please note that our lunchroom is located up a steep flight of stairs. Alternative accommodation is occasionally available. Please phone to discuss details.
