7,000 Poppies

To mark Remembrance Day in 2018 over 7,000 knitted poppies were displayed at Rochester Cathedral.

These have been knitted by hundreds of volunteers from the Cathedral community with poppies have been sent in from as far away as Spain. The poppies are marking the centenary of the end of World War One.

The display forms part of a Medway wide project called 5000 Poppies. This is a continuation of an Australian project where the public and local community are invited to join in by knitting poppies. The project has been organised by Medway Fun Palace and partners include Nucleus Arts, The Royal Engineers Museum, Medway Libraries and the Cannon Public House.
