Welcome to Rochester Cathedral – a place of Christian worship since AD604

Welcome from the Dean

Welcome to Rochester Cathedral – a place of Christian worship since AD604.

Here women and men have brought the things of earth to touch the things of heaven; their joys and sorrows, the ups and downs of ordinary life.

Here, in the beauty of holiness, the finest that humans can muster has been the offering of the faithful.

Here there has been a welcome, based on the Benedictine tradition that every guest is “as Christ” to the community who gather here.

It is our prayer that through this website and when you visit us in person, you will find these principles lived out day by day in the life of the Cathedral.

Everyone is welcome to visit the Cathedral to take part in our services, admire our treasures and learn more of our stories. You can always be assured of a warm welcome whatever your motivation for visiting this special place.

The Cathedral is the seat of the Bishop of Rochester and Mother Church of the Diocese of Rochester. The diocese covers West Kent and the London Boroughs of Bromley and Bexley.
