Café in the Crypt
Enjoy a light lunch, treat yourself to a slice of cake or warm up with a cup of tea in our Café located in our 13th Century Crypt. The Café in the Crypt has been open since February 2018. The Café is run by volunteers and we aim to follow the Cathedral’s Benedictine foundations by offering a warm and genuine welcome to all visitors. It is a lovely place to eat in Rochester.
We aim to use Kentish suppliers and producers where possible. We have a range of homemade cakes, simple sandwiches and local fruit juices. We also have a small range of products for visitors with gluten and dairy allergies.
All proceeds go to keeping this stunning Cathedral open for another 1400 years.
The Café in the Crypt is located downstairs in the Crypt of Rochester Cathedral.
The Café in the Crypt is open Monday – Saturday from 11am to 3pm.
(For any changes to this – please check our closure notices.)
The Café in the Crypt is a great location to bring your group visit. We can organise a simple sandwich lunch, tea and cake for your party.

Volunteer at Rochester Cathedral
The Café is run by volunteers and we are currently looking for new volunteers to help us further develop our current offer. You do not need to have any experience handling cash or working in a Café. We will provide all training for volunteers so just ask for enthusiasm. Please do get in touch if you are interested in volunteering with us. Tel: 01634 810077 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
