Space the Final Frontier: Family Friendly Talk

Space the Final Frontier

Discover the vast size of space and some of the incredible speeds that exist in space, including light speed and light years, in our family-friendly talk.

Ian Hargraves and Arthur Fentaman of Mid-Kent Astronomical Society will be presenting this fascinating talk. Using video graphics and interactive sessions they will convey the almost impossible speeds that everything is moving at in space (even though we hardly notice anything moving from here on Earth!). They will also explain what constellations are and how to use them to find the North Star and find our way around the night sky. They will also explain shooting stars and comets.

Afterwards explore the hands-on display including a scale model solar system that is guaranteed to wow! You will also have the chance to touch a 3.9 billion meteorite and a piece of Moon Rock. Come and speak to friendly astronomy experts and learn more in 90 minutes than you ever through possible.

This talk will take place in our Ithamar Chapel and is aimed at families with children aged 5+.

Pre-booking advised. Ticket are available to buy online or from the Rochester Cathedral shop.

Tickets are priced £3 for all
