Safeguarding Season - November 2026

Rochester Cathedral is marking our annual a month-long season of Safeguarding, with exhibitions and events and we invite everyone to reflect on and promote the protection of children and vulnerable adults.

We express our commitment to putting survivors and victims of abuse first in the presence of the LOUDfence on the Cathedral railings, and anyone is welcome to tie ribbons.  It will be formally launched on Wednesday November 4th at 2pm.  Further information is accessible on rochestercathedral.org.

We mark ‘Safeguarding Sunday’ on Sunday 15 November, with a eucharist at 10.30 and Choral Evensong at 3.15pm that day.

In partnership with the Oasis Domestic Abuse charity, at 7pm on Friday 20 November, the Cathedral will present a free screening of the film ‘Gaslight’.  There will also be information, advice and discussion at that event.  All are welcome. Donations for the work of Oasis will be welcomed.

Wednesday November 25 is White Ribbon Day and it also sees the beginning of the 16 Days of Action against gender-based violence campaign (Until December 10). The campaign emphasizes the need for gender equality, the eradication of violence against women, and the protection of human rights. Various services that week will highlight this.

On Thursday November 26 the Diocese of Rochester will host a Conference on Domestic Abuse.
