Details of our opening times and services as we remember Her Late Majesty the Queen

We are deeply saddened to hear of the death of Her Majesty the Queen.

Special services will be taking place at Rochester Cathedral to pray for her, mark her death and commemorate her life. A book of condolence will be available for visitors as well.

Opening Times

The Cathedral will be open for people to pray, light a candle and leave a message in our condolence book.

Monday - Sunday 9am - 6pm

Services will continue to take place and are open to all

During this time the shop and exhibition in the Crypt will be closed. The Café in the Crypt will remain open.

We will be open from 9am - 6pm on the 19th September during Her Majesty’s funeral for worship and private prayer. The book of condolence will be available and visitors will be able to light candles. The Café in the Crypt will be closed.

Saturday 17th September

Requiem Eucharist -Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

As part of our commemoration of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, there will be a Requiem Eucharist at Rochester Cathedral at 3.15pm on Saturday 17th September, attended by representatives from across the Diocese and the civic life of Kent, Medway, Bromley and Bexley.  The Rt. Revd. Dr. Jonathan Gibbs, Bishop of Rochester, will preside and preach.

 All are welcome to attend this service.  The service is not ticketed, and seats will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Books of condolence

We have books of condolence available in the Cathedral. These will be open between 9am - 6pm until 5pm on Tuesday 20th September.

Any floral tributes should be left in the Castle Grounds
