Gundulf Society Annual Reception - Tuesday 13th October 2026

At the beginning of October, more than 50 members attended the annual Gundulf Society Evensong and Reception. The evening began with Choral Evensong, creating a reflective and uplifting start to the event.

Following the service, guests received an update on the life and work of Rochester Cathedral from the Cathedral's Chief Operating Officer, who shared news on current developments, priorities and the Cathedral's ongoing mission.

Members then enjoyed a fascinating and thought-provoking talk from renowned architect and author Ptolemy Dean, Surveyor of the Fabric at Westminster Abbey. Drawing on his book Streetscapes, he explored the changing character of Britain's built environment, offering unique insights into architecture, heritage and the stories embedded within our towns and cities.

During the reception, the Chair of the Trust informed members that Lars Lemonius would be stepping down as Chair of the Gundulf Society after seven years of dedicated service. Members joined in expressing their gratitude for his leadership and commitment to the Society and wished him every success as he takes up the role of High Sheriff for 2026/27.
