Trust Visit to the Huguenot Museum, Rochester - Thursday 16th April 2026

Guests of the Trust recently enjoyed a fascinating afternoon visit to the Huguenot Museum in Rochester, celebrating the rich history and craftsmanship of the Huguenot community. The event began with a guided tour of the museum’s exhibition led by Dr Tessa Murdoch, Chair of Trustees at the Museum, whose expert knowledge and engaging commentary brought the displays vividly to life. Attendees gained valuable insight into the cultural influence, artistry, and resilience of the Huguenots, with particular emphasis on their lasting contribution to Britain’s decorative arts.

It was also an opportunity to view the Lethieullier dolls house, an exceptional exhibit and one of the two most important eighteenth century British dolls’ houses.

Following the tour, guests were treated to homemade refreshments, providing an opportunity to continue conversations inspired by the exhibition. The afternoon concluded with an informative talk by Dr Murdoch on the Huguenot silversmiths, which explored their amazing skill, innovative designs, and the legacy of their work.

The visit was an enriching and enjoyable occasion, combining scholarship, hospitality, and shared interest, and was warmly received by all who attended.
