What is the WhaLeS exhibition?

The majestic artwork is by Tessa Campbell Fraser. It depicts three sperm whale scupltures suspended in the Nave.

Visiting Whales

When is it open?

Whales is open n from 10:00 - 17:00 (Monday to Friday), 10:00 -16:00 (Saturday) 12:00 - 17:00 (Sunday).

Will I have to queue?

It is possible there will be queues for this event and the additional activities.

Where is entry?

Entry will be via the small West Door at the front of the Cathedral, level access will be through the North Door.

Do you have a Café?

Yes, we have the Café in the Crypt. This will be open during the day. (See opening times on website)

Do you have a shop?

Yes, we have a shop which will be open throughout the event.

Do you have toilets?

Yes we do have toilets. These are located in the gardens of Rochester Cathedral. We also have a disabled toilet inside the Cathedral.

Do you have level access?

We have level access through the Pilgrim Door of the Cathedral

Where can I park?

There is no parking available at the Cathedral for any visitors including those with blue badges. There are a number of public car parks close to the Cathedral. We encourage visitors to walk or use public transport where possible. More information about travelling to Rochester Cathedral can be found here

Do you have space for coaches to park?

No, we do not but information about bringing a coaches on Medway Council's website here

Tickets for Whales

Do I need to book tickets to see Whales?

Not for visits during the day but you will need to book for evenings and special events. Groups and schools must book in advance.

How much does it cost to see the whales

Entry is free during the day but donations are encouraged. Charges apply for groups, evenings and special events.

Can I change the date and time of my ticket if I’ve booked for an event?

Ticket dates and times cannot be altered once purchased.

What happens if the event I want is sold out?

We anticipate this will be a popular event. We may release limited tickets later and these will be announced on our newsletter and social media channels. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and X or sign up to our newsletter on the side bar.

Do I need to print my tickets?

You can either print your ticket or use a screenshot on your phone when visiting.

Can I have a refund if I am no longer able to attend?

We are unable to offer refunds for this event.
