Chaplain for Young People and Families (Minor Canon) Deadline - Midnight Sunday 26 July 2026

We are seeking a priest colleague to play a leading role in Rochester Cathedral’s work with young people and children. In particular, they will prioritise the development and nurturing of a ministry team of lay people to assist in the delivery of youth and children’s work and ensuring an integrated and sustainable vision for this important part of the Cathedral’s mission and ministry.  We are seeking a priest who understands the distinctive contribution of Cathedrals to the life and mission of the Church of England and has a strong appreciation of Cathedral Worship.

The Chaplain will share with other clergy colleagues in the pastoral care of the Cathedral congregations, working with the Canon Chancellor in supporting Schools, Pilgrimage and other activities. Attendance at the Daily Offices and sharing in the leading of worship, preaching, and development of the Cathedral congregations will be required.

This is a fixed-term post for an initial period of three years, subject to continued funding.

Hours of work 

The role is full time with an uninterrupted rest period of 24 hours in each period of seven days. Evening and weekend work will be required.

Stipend

This post will be appointed under Common Tenure and as such, the post holder will be entitled to a stipend and pension provision provided through the Church Commissioners.  Housing will be provided close to the Cathedral.  Authorised working expenses will be reimbursed.

An Enhanced DBS check with barring is required for this post.
