Royal Engineer casualties of The Sudan Expedition 1897-98

Sappers who were killed in the Sudan Expedition 1897-1898, part of the Anglo-Egyptian conquest of Sudan are commemorated by a plaque on the west wall of the South Nave Aisle to the left of the main Royal Engineer Memorial.

The plaque reads:

ROYAL ENGINEERS
WHO LOST THEIR LIVES DURING THE
SUDAN EXPEDITION 1897-98
THIS TABLET WAS ERECTED
BY THEIR COMRADES AD 1902
