Margherita Gramegna
/Margherita Gramegna is an Italian artist-filmmaker based in Rochester, Kent, and the founder and Artistic Director of 51zero.
Her practice sits between contemporary art and cinema, bringing moving image into galleries, alternative venues and public settings. Her film work has been shown at Whitechapel Gallery, Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall, Raindance, Cannes 60th Short Film Corner, Loop Festival in Barcelona and Zlín Film Festival in the Czech Republic.
In 2019 she took part in a collaborative artist residency at Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, exhibiting a short film at Palazzetto Tito in Venice. Through 51zero, Gramegna has led festivals, commissions, touring programmes and international partnerships, with a sustained focus on cultural exchange and on creating platforms for artists in Medway.
She has also contributed to the development of Creative Medway Cultural Compact, Intra Community Trust and Medway Cultural Partnership. For Art on the Delta, she presents Medway Superstars, a series of filmed portraits documenting artists and cultural workers across the region. The work functions both as an artwork and a living archive, making creative practice visible and extending its reach beyond the exhibition.
