A monument to Richard Sommer is located in the south nave aisle, third bay from west.

Inscription in memory of Richard Sommer, who died 26th January 1682. Architectural mural monument erected by his eldest son. Two grey marble Ionic columns support a broken curved pediment and a cartouche of arms and enclose a white marble inscription tablet. Inscription in incised Roman letters, once painted.

Piæ memoriæ Sacrum
Neer unto this place lyeth ye body
of RICHARD SOMER Gentleman
deßended from ye antient family of
that name, in this County
He was exemplary for Piety in his life, and dyed ye death of ye Righteous
having his last end like his
He married ELIZABETH the only
Daughter of IOHN WALLER of ye same County Gent; by whom he
left ißue, IOHN & WILLIAM, ANN, / ELIZABETH, SARAH & FRANCES.
This Monument was erected by
IOHN his eldest Sonn, in memory of
his most dear Father, who deacesed ye 26th: of Ianuary in ye 78th: year of his Age
Anno Domjnj 1682.
