William Streaton (d. 1609)

A mural monument to William Streaton, nine times mayor of Rochester, is located in the south nave aisle.

The monument was erected by his wife, Alice, comprised of stone with traces of colour and gilding. Two headless figures face each other over a prayer desk. On the left is a man in a black gown, on the right his wife, beneath two round-headed arches supported on two pilasters resting on a gadrooned base. On the top is a broken niche with strapwork. Below is an inscription tablet. At the base is strapwork on either side of a space that might have contained a cherub-head or a shield.

Monument conserved 1991/2 and erected in current position in 1992.
